As an adult collector what do you do or how do you display accessories? I got Molly's lunch for DD because of the play value and I just can't decide (time is running out) if I should get Kirsten's for myself. I don't know what I would do with them. I really don't plan on getting any of her furniture. Most days she sits or stands on the hearth. I like to dress her according to the season. What should I do?

Sit her on a "blanket", maybe like a quilted placemat or something else that looks appropriate for her era, and spread her lunch out in her lap as though she were having a quick picnic. You wouldn't have to leave her that way all the time.
You could do the same with her school bench and books. Maybe sit her on the bench, raise one of her hands, and prop her slate in her lap.

I just have the accessories set up next to my dolls in their stand. I switch accessories when I change clothing.

I do alredy have Kirsten's table, but I gotta tell you to go and get her lunch before the code expires. It's really yummy looking with the sausage, bread and cheese, makes me think of going to a winery!

I buy the accessories and the like because I love just looking at them once in a while. I like miniatures to start with. I keep all my lunches together in one of those photo boxes (the ones that look like shoe boxes), the school supplies in another photo box, etc. When I feel bored I just start looking through them, and the boxes keep them dust free.

Oh, Oh, Oh, I really think that you should get Kirsten's lunch (I actually purchased 2 ) The box is simply beautiful. My girls love playing with it (since we don't have Kirsten - apparently we are not purists). I figured that the lunches are having such nice play - that for the CODE price, I'd get sets to put up for the future - am I loosing it or what?

I love miniatures too. They are so cute. Some are on a display shelf and some are stored in baskets waiting for playtime. I am not a purist. I buy whatever appeals to me, such as Felicity's party treats or table. I do not have any intentions of ever getting her but love some of her stuff. Recently my DD gave me Kit's waffle set. I hadn't really asked for this, but now that I have it it is so cute! There's a miniature 'electrical' cord that plugs into the waffle iron! So realistic.

Even for the dolls for whom I don't intend to buy full furniture sets, I buy a single chair of theirs (only $17 with the code including shipping!) and their nightstand. Between those two items, I have some surfaces to put accessories, and I have them set up in my bookcase in approx. 1'x2' area like a little house. I rotate accessories around. You can see what I mean in the "My American Girls" album.
Eventually Felicity and Addy will have a 2'x5' doll cabinet, each with a shelf, and Kirsten and Josefina will have a 2'x4' space. Kit and Sam will never have lots of furniture so they'll just share the tops of the cabinets we'll be making. But in the meantime, this works great. I really can't wait for the cabinets, though! Come on, house, SELL! LOL- I'm nuts- wanting my house to sell so I can display my dolls better!

As an adult collector, I really only like the dolls themselves and few of the outfits. I think their trunks and furniture are nice display items. I only have so much space. But as far as the accessories. I only collect them for my daughters play value. When she is older, I plan on playing with my daughter. But I am not that interested in setting up scenes and photographing the dolls. Right now, Kaitlin is too young to really participate in playing with an 18" doll. But I really am looking forward to playing with her as she gets older. I also think it will be interesting to watch her play with other children.

I really like Kirsten's lunch. I have displayed her holding her lunch (used a rubberband). I have also had Kirsten sitting and the lunch spread out next to her. I have also displayed Kirsten in her winter outfit holding her carpet bag in her hand. I think she looks really cute with these objects.
I have decided not to get the nightime necessities except for Samantha's. We only have Samantha's and an AGOT bedroom, so I won't be getting those accessories. We have Samantha's table and we also have her dishes and food. That mostly just sits on the table. It is really pretty.
